The event was put together by our friends at Emilie Duncan Event Planning and Bliss Events here in Columbus, Ohio. The soiree benefits and takes place at the Mid Ohio Food Bank in Grove City, Ohio. They distribute food to more than 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers and after-school programs. 75% of your donation goes directly to providing food for those in need. For every $1 you give, they can give $8 worth of groceries.

Its a wonderful cause and I’m happy to participate. Last year’s event was so yummy and this year’s is going to be almost twice the size!

Start your Monday with a little bit of letter love from Print Julep!

The answer to this question was something NO ONE expected. The Save The Date for Kate & Will’s nuptials was a FAX. Yes, you heard me, and then I heard you say “Do people still send faxes?!” — The Queen of England does!

Stationers all over died a little I think. ::sigh::

HOWEVER, it is reported that handwritten, gold embossed invitations for 1800 guests are in the works and will be sent out in a couple of weeks. YEA! While I’m guessing the Save The Date fascimilie was the Queen’s doing, the responses coming into the couple’s website was most certainly the bride and groom’s doing. How modern!

Are you considering asking for responses from your guests with your Save The Dates instead of with your invitations?

BHLDN will appropriately launch on, when else, but Valentines Day 2011.

But more than the awards themselves, I love the post-awards ceremony fashion commentary.

This year I wanted to see what color trends came walking down the red carpet. Design trends, even in stationery, stem from fashion, color, home interiors, product design, etc. Its a constant circle and inspiration is everywhere! Would we see existing trends? Emerging trends? Would Pantone’s Honeysuckle make some appearances? It sure did. Mrs. Claire Danes!

Check out these color trends from the Golden Globes. Are you using any of these in your wedding or event?

Golden Globe Color Trends - Pink

Pinks made a warm and welcome appearance at the Golden Globes. Claire Danes wore a near-perfect match to the Pantone Color of the Year, Honeysuckle pink. Bright and feminine without being too childish, this color. Think, David’s Bridal Guava if you like this look, or Watermelon if something a little more bold is your style.

Golden Globe Color Trend - Emerald Green

My next favorite color trend, and probably most surprising was Emerald Green. Between Angelina and Catharine Zeta Jones, these ladies stood out from the crowd in this glamorous color. Does Catharine’s dress look familiar? It is a variation of a 2011 Monique Lhuillier gown. Waters’ Wtoo’s color Forest is a great choice if you want your ladies in this deep rich green tone.

Golden Globe Color Trends - Ivory/White

Finally, a slew of ladies went for a more color-neutral look, choosing white, ivory or nude color gowns. Lots of strapless and one-shoulder dresses, defined waists, lots of sparkle and a handful of detail appliques. If you’re still nailing down your bridal style, these ladies give you plenty of options.

Nearly 6 months ago, I married my wonderful husband, here in Columbus, Ohio. As any bride will say, that is enough to make the day special, but when you design for the wedding industry, look at wedding style blogs daily and painstakingly go through piles of details for your own clients’ weddings, getting to design your OWN wedding is a complete and total bonus.

Here is a fun idea for you DIYers and BIYers out there! This morning on Design*Sponge, they showcased a great Moravian Star DIY project from Zurich-based design firm Schindlersalmerón that I had to share for the DIYers out there: Design*Sponge – Moravian Star Project

These stars have a special place in my heart, and I can only imagine how striking a collection (large or small) or these would be in ceremony or reception decor. Mixing and matching coordinating solid and pattern papers would be so whimsical, and would be a great refreshed and more graphic approach to the tissue poms of the last few years.
